Assessing and Managing Risk
Resource Futures International (RFI) is a recognized leader internationally and within Canada for our work in assessing risks posed by development to the environment and health. We assist clients in developing and analysing policy gaps, and identifying risk management needs and development priorities.
Our services include assistance to clients that emphasize impacts on a cross-sectoral basis, as well as individual sectors. RFI provides guidance and training for management of risk in a multi-stakeholder context. Additionally, we facilitate visioning and future direction exercises for managing risk, inclusive of consideration of emerging economic, social, and environmental and health trends.
RFI Technical Assistance

Who Can Best Deploy RFI's Risk Assessment and Management Expertise:
- Government departments and agencies charged with an environmental and human health protection, conservation and/or promotion mandate(s) nationally or internationally, particularly regarding sound management of chemicals (e.g., toxic chemicals, hazardous wastes and contaminated sites), climate change (e.g., greenhouse gas mitigation and adaptation), air contaminants (e.g., mobile and stationary sources of toxic air contaminants) and fresh water conservation and protection.
- International environment organizations developing plans or programmes for implementation of multilateral environmental agreements and related environmental commitments at the regional, national and/or local level.
- Corporations and industry associations in the primary resource extraction and manufacturing sectors seeking to better understand environmental risk factors and options for mitigating risks in operations, site developments, financial transactions or international trade markets.
