Africa

Resource Futures International (RFI) expanded its activities to Africa in 2006, providing services in support of poverty reduction generally and on chemicals management within the larger context of sustainable development. Our services to African nations emphasize strategic and technical capacity-building assistance in support of sustainable development, poverty reduction and the environment and health. Particular emphasis has been placed upon projects that emphasize institutional strengthening, capacity building and facilitation of knowledge and technology transfer.
Mali
RFI was engaged by the World Bank/OECD in 2007 to develop a Mali chemicals management case study. Our work included field interviews with senior Malian administrative and technical staff , supplemented by extensive secondary research.
Namibia
RFI was engaged by UNDP-Nambia in 2005-2006 to assist with mobilization of resources in support of sustainable development and related training. RFI produced a feasibility report on opportunities for priority setting to implement Namibia's sustainable development vision and programmes within the near- and long-term. RFI advised the government on a strategic resource mobilization process in support of Namibia's sustainable development vision and Millennium Develop Goals. In developing the report, RFI conducted extensive interviews with senior staff representing the Cabinet and key development ministries, as well as senior officials from key public and private sector institutions. The feasibility report included an annex listing and assessing the relevance of current and potential international and national aid resources in light of Namibia's vision and priorities. Recommendations were provided for improving aid alignment with international aid programmes.
