Affterpay’s director of public policy and regulatory affairs Michael Saadat has been appointed to the board of FinTech Australia including Athena Home Loans CEO Nathan Walsh and managing director Marie Mortimer.

The new appointments replace Lauren Caplin - formerly Reinventure, now at Startmate—and Tim Dean ( who have served their electoral term on FinTech Australia’s board.

Former chair Alan Tsen has been re-elected as deputy chair while Paypa Plane founder and CEO Simone Joyce has been appointed chair.

Three members of the board were also re-elected including Carla Harris, co-founder and CEO of Longevity App; Oliver Kidd, founder and CEO of Archa; and Timothy Cameron, country manager, Australia at Transferwise.

“While we have always had fantastic representation of the sector on our board, I am particularly excited about Marie, Nathan and Michael’s appointment as the trio bring a new level of rigour to our organisation,” FinTech Australia CEO Rebecca Schot-Guppy said.

“They strengthen our knowledge of the lending industry and their expertise will also help bolster our ongoing policy and advocacy work,” she said.

“I also congratulate Simone on her appointment as chair.

“She has been a dedicated director of FinTech Australia since her appointment last year.

“Finally, I want to thank Lauren, and Tim for their contributions to the board, and Alan for his tenure as chair.

FinTech Australia has truly thrived under their stewardship. I look forward to continuing work with Alan, and wish Lauren and Tim all the best with their future endeavours.”
