Antony Shaw to head HSBC Bank Australia

Antony Shaw will step up as HSBC Bank Australia’s CEO from 1 September, replacing Kaber Mclean who has decided to take a six-month sabbatical to travel.

Shaw, who will also join HSBC Australia’s board as an executive director, has been at HSBC for more than 19 years and has 30 years of experience in domestic and international banking.

Over the years, Shaw has played a significant role in Markets and Securities Services (MSS) at HSBC, leading the institutional sales for Asia Pacific and the Middle East, North Africa and Turkey regions as well as driving growth as its global head of wealth.

Before joining HSBC, Shaw worked in the investment banking sector in London and Sydney.

Mclean joined HSBC Australia as its CEO in March 2020.

According to HSBC Asia Pacific co-CEO Surendra Rosha, he has decided to set aside time to reconnect with family and friends abroad as the world reopens.

“We will be welcoming his return into another role, within the group, in the new year,” says Rosha.
