ANZ group executive Fred Ohlsson has stepped down from his role to take a career break after 17 years experience with the bank.

Ohlsson, who will move to his native Sweden, led the group executive business and private banking division since May 2018. He has also worked for five years as managing director of retail band business banking in New Zealand.

Current group executive of business and private banking Mark Hand has been appointed as acting group executive while the bank looks at the best structure for the Australian business.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to be able to take a career-break. My children are of an age where we can go back to Sweden for an extended period and both my wife and I feel we owe them that opportunity,” Ohlsson said.
