Commonwealth Bank will introduce Apple Pay to its customers, including Bankwest customers from January next year.

“We recently wrote to our customers asking them what the bank could do differently and we received lots of excellent suggestions,” CBA group executive of retail banking customers Angus Sullivan said.

“Responding to customer demand for Apple Pay underscores our commitment to becoming a better, simpler bank,” he said.

“Launching Apple Pay, alongside our CommBank app, will ensure our customers have the very best mobile banking experience,” Sullivan said.

RFi Group data shows that Apple Pay is the fourth most popular digital wallet in the market following PayPal’s offering.

While many mutual banks offer Apple Pay, ANZ is the only other major bank to offer the digital wallet.
