Financial services veteran joins HSBC Bank’s board

HSBC Bank Australia has appointed Gail Pemberton, a veteran in financial services, as an independent non-executive director of its board

Pemberton, who starts her new role on 28 October, currently serves on the boards of MNF, Sydney Metro and Land Services WA. She is also chair of Prospa and Eclipx.

Prior to this, she served in a variety of capacities on the boards of over 15 companies, including QIC and PayPal Australia.

Before transitioning to a non-executive director career in 2008, Pemberton was chief information officer and chief operating officer of fund services at Macquarie Bank, as well as chief operating officer UK, CEO and managing director of Australia and New Zealand at BNP Paribas Securities Services.

In 2018, Ms Pemberton was awarded the Order of Australia (AO) in the Australia Day Honours List for distinguished service to the finance and banking industry, particularly for her work as an advocate for technology, and a mentor to women.
