Asia: UBS launches business campus in Wuxi, China

Following the success of its business university in Beijing, China, UBS has launched another new campus in Wuxi. This new campus will be the firm’s training facility in China, intended to provide customized professional development programs for the bank’s junior staff as well as running workshops for senior managers, to instil better understanding of China’s younger customer segment.

Currently, the bank employs over 1000 people in China and aims to double its workforce in 2020 by offering financial advisory services, wealth management products and investment banking solutions. UBS believes that China will continue to post higher growth than other markets globally, making it a key market for UBS to invest.

According to RFi Group data from China Retail Banking Council (H2 2017), affluent customers who have total investable assets of RMB 500,000 and above, consider the relationship manager to be the main driver for satisfaction with their priority banking account. UBS’ move to enhance its workforce capabilities by providing professional development training will enable UBS to address the affluent segment’s demand for value-driven engagement from its relationship managers.
