UAE: ADIB increases number of Express branches

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) has announced the opening of two new digitally-enabled express branches located at the World Trade Centre in Abu Dhabi and Burjuman Dubai Metro. The announcement comes after successfully launching the first ADIB Express branch in Dubai’s Ranches Souk earlier this year.

These new express branches combine a personalised customer experience with the latest innovative digital technology, such as interactive screens, Emirates ID scanner and a media wall. Furthermore, ADIB relationship managers will be able to further dedicate their time to offer a personal banking service because many of their usual administrative duties can be carried out by the digital technologies featured in these new express branches.

According to RFi Group Data, 1 in 5 retail banking customers who do not bank digitally cited unfamiliarity with digital services as the reason for not currently using digital banking services to interact with their main bank, suggesting that branches that incorporate digital banking along with staff on hand to lend assistance could help increase familiarity and comfort with digital banking.

In a statement on the opening of the new ADIB express branches, Philip King, Global Head of Retail Banking at ADIB, said: “The way our customers live and bank is changing, and it is important that we continue to create digital solutions that utilise best in-class technologies to simplify their lives and make banking with us seamless and secure.”
