UK: Monzo adds Apple Pay to current account offering

Monzo has added Apple Pay capability to its current account, enabling in-store, online or in-app purchases via the mobile wallet. According to Monzo, Apple Pay capability was added to the account offering as customers have been requesting the feature.

RFi Group data shows that Apple Pay is winning the battle for the most used mobile wallet in the UK with 40% of mobile wallet users currently using Apple Pay.

Meanwhile, 16% of non-mobile wallet users find Apple Pay very appealing (score of 8+/10), which makes the addition of Apple Pay by the digital-only bank significant in terms of current and potential users.

Monzo’s CEO, Tom Blomfield, stated that “Monzo’s mission has always been to make sure everyone can use and manage their money effortlessly, and with Apple Pay, we are one step closer to achieving that”.
